Palazzo on park

A grand Park Avenue residential building, the first tall building on the avenue dating from 1907, undergoes a needed restoration. As part of the exterior cleaning we were asked to restore the entrance. 

The classic Italianate lobby evokes an urban piazza. Honed travertine walls  support a beamed tray ceiling highlighted by gilded glazed beam details and rosettes. The tray ceiling pane is painted pale blue to suggest sky beyond, while garden benches and topiaries reinforce the interior/exterior scheme. New entry doors in solid mahogany with brass hardware are echoed in the faux mahogany elevator doors and a new concierge desk to welcome visitors and receive packages.
